Hello everyone, well the past two days have been very good fishing again out front.  I was guiding for another local lodge and the two guests I had in my boat took home their limit of chinook.  The largest weighed 30 pounds!  Anchovy trolled behind a red hotspot flasher was used for all the fish.  My anchovy holder was glow in the dark (cream) and also the white with rainbow colors.  Wash Rock and Maquinna were the hot spots (for me).  Maquinna in the morning and Wash Rock in the evening.  Apparently there is still a good bite happening in the gap at Bajo Reef also, however I didn't get out there to try my luck.  I did however troll down to Beano Creek, but only saw a few fish caught and headed back to Maquinna where I witnessed a 44 pounder caught by one of the guides from the same lodge I was contracting for.  I heard from another guide that Burdwood was producing also, but not as productive as the Lighthouse or Maquinna.  The weather was good and the water was a little rough on Thurday evening and Friday.  Saturday morning, however was beautiful and flat calm.

Keep those rod tips up and tight lines!

PS:
Starting tomorrow there is a commercial gill net fishery for chinook inside Camel Rock to Princess Royal Point for three days or until they get their allocation.  The fishery will take place in the evening hours so it shouldn't interfer with the rec fish guys during the daylight hours.  However, the fish will definately get spooked.

Fishing was very hot the last two days. We managed to limit out on halibut and salmon. The halis were caught about 3 miles out in front of Maquinna Rock using a new jig (for our area anyways) that resembles a shad with a variety of color patterns like: rainbow trout, walleye, perch etc. We were using the nine inch model. It was tied onto a “mud raker” weight using a 50lb test leader about 18-24 inches long. It was unbelievable how well this jig worked for halibut. Afterwards we stopped in at “Wash Rock” and caught our limit in chinook (king) salmon in 30-40 minutes. Our setup was an anchovy on a 6ft. leader behind a red hotspot flasher. A slight bend in the anchovie gives it the proper roll. We duplicated the first days efforts on day two in exactly the same two spots. The bite came on around noon for the halibut and around 2:30 pm for the salmon on the first day and roughly the same time give or take a few minutes on day two. I was cleaning fish for what seemed like an eternity, but it was worth it to see the happy faces. Keep those rod tips up and tight lines!
